Resilience Valley

We at Lishy’s Gift know first-hand that young adults go through many adjustments while undergoing treatment for cancer. They don’t know what they need until their condition requires it. We meet their comfort needs from the start. Lishy’s Gift delivers Comfort Bags in accordance with the medical facility’s privacy policies and protocols. When notified of additional patient needs, Lishy’s Gift addresses those concerns as we are able.
Each Lishy’s Gift Comfort Bag contains a soft blanket, Bluetooth device, $500 Visa gift card, $200 food delivery card, hard candy, a soft-bristled brush, a microfiber cloth, Dr. Bronner’s unscented soap, Tom’s unscented deodorant, Aveeno skin lotion, Tom’s toothpaste, a journal and pen, a tumbler, a mesh laundry bag, a Lishy’s Gift T-shirt and bracelet, and a flyer with information about our organization.
How does Lishy’s Gift benefit the community?
There are many organizations that assist children ages 0-18 who are fighting cancer. Young adults are not eligible for services given to children, and are often overlooked. Their needs are just as great and struggles just as difficult. Lishy’s Gift lets them know they are not forgotten by offering comfort and compassion, inspiring hope, and supporting positive outcomes for these young adults, their families, friends, and community.
Beyond the physical items, the Comfort Bag represents comfort, community, caring, and compassion, not only for these young adults, but for their caregivers as well. We see you. We understand the challenges you face, and the reality of navigating a world that unfolds before you unexpectedly.

Heather Cumbea –Director Resilience Valley
I am excited to join Lishy’s Gift this year and establish our young adult survivorship group- Resilience Valley.
Through an avenue of resources, events and mentorship programs, Resilience Valley will be able to provide support to our young adult community during and after treatment.
As a physical therapist but also a mom, my passion and joy comes from taking care of others! Coming from a family where cancer is around every corner, I am excited to be able to give back and make the “valley” a little less dark.
