Survivorship Program
Why Resilience Valley?
Although our goal is to reach young adults even outside the Roanoke Valley, the Valley is our home and home to many of the young adults who are looking to Lishy’s Gift for help.
Resilience – the capacity to withstand or to recover from difficulties; toughness.

Mentorship Program
Connect with Someone who has Been There Too
RV peer mentors are volunteers and staff who have firsthand experience with cancer diagnosis, treatment, and post treatment life. As survivors, they understand the struggle and the path to wellness, and want to offer support, encouragement, and information as needed.
However, volunteers are NOT medical professionals, so they cannot offer medical information or advise. A peer mentor is a great addition in order to protect / improve the mental health of survivors.
Peer Mentors Provide:
Non-judgmental listening
Understanding, acceptance, support, and encouragement
Suggestions for self-care
